I leveled a lot and have been playing multiple chars (short for characters). I also got back on this one when I felt I had enough money. I've leveled my blacksmith (mostly through money) all the way to making armor to where I am now.
Usually one character is the sacrificied character when it comes to professions; you level that one char up so that it gets more and more money. Then you spend that money on the AH for needed materials for your other chars and level their stuff handily. That's sort of what I did for him. And now he's got all the money he needs to do with what he pleases.
I'd hate to quit playing but it seems I may have to as my economic situation is taking a dive... More on that in my personal blog (some time).
